How it all started...
In 2013, Jim and Angela McCourt were attending a missions conference at Liberty Baptist Church in Toledo. Jeremy Rowland (of Baptist Church Planting Ministry) gave a statistic that 14 churches die in America every day. It was then that Pastor Jim knew God's calling on his life was to plant a church. Under the direction and guidance of Liberty's pastor, Rick Rust [who is now with the Lord], they prayed, surveyed, and decided to plant in Oregon, Ohio. Oregon is a city of 20,000 people, who when surveyed, half of them stated they had no religious affiliation at all, no connection to God at all, no eternal life at all.
After much planning and preparation, we launched Living Word Baptist Church in September 2014, in the library at Coy Elementary School on Pickle Road. In May 2016, we moved to the Wynn Center on Bayshore Road, where we leased an office and a worship space. In 2021, God moved in our hearts to see that we needed to purchase our own facility. God raised the necessary funds in only 3 months, and we purchased the old Faith Tabernacle on Drouillard Road in Northwood!
Three years later, in 2024, we sold that property to another new church plant, Bible Believers Baptist Church, and we moved back into Oregon. We purchased the old First Baptist Church of Oregon on Seaman Road, where we now call HOME!
God has truly blessed us over the last 10 years, and we want to share the gift of knowing God's love with YOU!

2024: Our New Home!
Where we are headed...
It remains our vision and desire to bring the good news of the Gospel of Jesus to Oregon and our surrounding communities, to baptize believers, to disciple new believers, and to see individuals and families grow in God's grace. God's Word is full of life-changing truth, that people desperately need to hear. We are here to love people in Christ, and communicate His truth that sets free!
We have several hopes and dreams for the facility, and we put our plans in God's hands, asking Him to provide in His time, according to His will, for His glory! Until then, we continue to participate in community events to put the Gospel in people's hands, we continue to host special events where we invite people in to hear and see for themselves.
Love Jesus and others, Learn of Jesus, and Live in Jesus!
