Pastor Jim McCourt is the founding pastor of Living Word Baptist Church. He remembers being saved at 4 years old, when his mother told him the Gospel. He immediately believed in the Lord Jesus, prayed and asked the Lord to save him.

 

He was called of God to full time ministry as an adult, while serving as a helper and teacher in a Junior Church program. He went to Pensacola Theological Seminary, where he graduated with both a Master of Arts in Bible Exposition and a Master of Divinity.

 

After serving as a Youth Pastor in Ohio, the Lord called him to be the Senior Pastor of a church in Michigan, where he served for 4 years.  He was then called of God to a new work – to plant a new church in the city of Oregon, Ohio.

 

Pastor McCourt joined Liberty Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio, where he and his family served the church and prepared to plant the new work under the leadership of Pastor Rick Rust.  In April 2015, Liberty Baptist Church reproduced itself and planted Living Word Baptist Church, installing Jim McCourt as the founding pastor.
